Remembering The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists author Robert Tressell 100 years after his death

I may have mentioned this before, but Robert Tressell was the man behind The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists, one of the most powerful and influential political novels of the 20th Century.

Today marks the 100th anniversary of Tressell's premature death at the age of just 40.

He is buried in a pauper's grave in Liverpool and never lived to see his great work published.

But you already know that.

Read my tribute to the great man and why I think the novel is more important now than when it was published back in 1914 over on Liverpool Echo and Liverpool Daily Post city editor David Bartlett's DaleStreetBlues blog.
