Apple iPad Review: The newspaper's saviour or just a babe magnet?

Today I had the pleasure of filming a review of Apple's iPad by none other than Mr Mac himself Don McAllister.

Don got his hands on the much heralded device while on holiday in America, way ahead of the UK release.  And yes, he even gave the staff of the Liverpool Daily Post and Liverpool Echo the chance to have a play - and that includes me!

So will the iPad be the saviour of the newspaper? Ask Alison Gow - she'd love you to.

If you ask me, I'd say it won't save the newspaper, but it may go a long way in helping people (both within the industry and without) to bridge the gap between print and digital.

In fact one of the most impressive things about the iPad is how well it displays news websites - even without the need for bespoke apps.  With its touchscreen interface, it makes news sites ... well tactile.

So you have the tactile nature of a newspaper with all the benefits of the internet - and what's more you don't get inky fingers.

But I only had a very brief play with the iPad, what does Don think?  Watch the video review to find out, but one unexpected added bonus:

Who can argue with that.

Watch the full video on the Liverpool Echo site here and Liverpool Daily Post here.
